You're holding an old-world inspired anniversary beer, commemorating 99 years of handcrafted brewing at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. The countdown to 100 continues with this refreshingly bright Munich Style Helles Lager. Every glass of malty gold is topped with an aromatic cloud of mild, Hallertau hoppiness. Its slightly sweet finish is perfectly suited for any celebration. Prosit!

Pours a golden color with a medium sized white head that is creamy. Nose is some corn wheat honey and bitterness. Taste is soft and wheat like with some honey. Very sub par.

I very much enjoyed this beer. I felt the aroma was nice and tasted exactly as I thought it would due strictly to this. The taste itself was mild and a bit malty, however the sweetness of the brew stayed on my palate long after I had finished the drink itself. This could be good or bad depending on your specific tastes. For the fans of the Helles style, this is definately a must try. I desperately hope that Shiner adds this to the regular lineup!

Gold color with a brief head. Minimal lacing. Aroma of grass, sweet malt and grain. Malty with hints of sweet corn. Carbonation is too lively and intefers with the palate-which in this case may not be a bad thing.

(Bottle) Pours a golden color with an even white head. Good lacing. Aroma of grass and sweet malts. Sweet corn dominates the flavor. Light malts give the beer a crisp finish. High carbonation level doesn’t help the light palate much. I’ve had much better examples of the style, but I didn’t think it was nearly as terrible as everyone else thought.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with a small off white head. The aroama is wheat grass and a bit skunky. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is corn and malt. Not too much going on with this one.

Bottle. Pours an average yellow-food-coloring-yellow with a slowly dissipating head of foamy white cumulus cloud. Aroma is candied corn and hay with chunks of Rice Crispy treats thrown in the mix. Flavor is deplorable; rotten grass, stale hay, freezer-bitten corn, and salty sweet syrup. Palate is watery and forgettable. Disgusting. Please don’t drink this.

Pours a late sunset gold colour .... a truly gross aroma emanates from my glass ... some foam buts disappears in minutes ...Taste is messed up and too muddled for me to carry on.... A HUGE disappointment!

I know i am being a bit harsh on this one, but it really seems to lack pride... that being said, the best thing about this beer is the cap!

Pours a very clear rich golden color with very little head. Aroma is nothing special... perhaps a little grass in there with some light malt. Flavor is caramel malt and an ever so slight grass flavor. Better than 98, not as good as 97. 12 oz. bottle.
