Commercial Description:
You're holding an old-world inspired anniversary beer, commemorating 99 years of handcrafted brewing at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. The countdown to 100 continues with this refreshingly bright Munich Style Helles Lager. Every glass of malty gold is topped with an aromatic cloud of mild, Hallertau hoppiness. Its slightly sweet finish is perfectly suited for any celebration. Prosit!

Rich golden color with a fizzy head that dissipates quickly. Nose strong a pale malts with some subtle floral notes. Taste of pale malt with an apple-like tartness. Short tart finish.

Like a faint summer breeze emanating from your shorts after eating grass. My tolerance level for the simplistic is not so good these days. how about you?

A very attractive nice straw coloured brew with plenty of head and TONS of bubbles. Sadly while that carbonation keeps up it doesn’t seem to hold up the head witch diminishes altogether leaving no lace. Not much going on in the aroma department, a little hay honey like sweetness and some minimal floral hops. Taste follows with a fairly light bland lager taste. Nothing is unpleasant here it tastes like a slightly less grainy slightly less hoppy version of the Munich Hells that I have had in the past. With that it has a nice little malty sweetness that is kept under control with a mild hoppiness. Throw in a little bit of rice flavor and you’ve got it. Noting to flip a wig over, I don’t regret buying it, and I look forward to the Shiner 100 (whatever it may be)

Bottle. Husky grains and grass with some light pale malt and floral hops. Macro. At least it’s not overflowing with corn. Very pale orange-copper with a soapy beige head. Crisp, lightly metallic and acidic, grass with a touch of metal but all resolving so a nice, bland breadiness. A little tongue numbing from the session-level alcohol. Light spice and a bit of butter. Medium body. They need to drop the ’’There’s nothing finer!’’ ploy, or play up the irony.

Medium gold colored body with a lightly off white head. The aroma is like rising bread dough with some potting soil. Fairly earthy with it’s malt character. The taste is strangely metallic with raw bread dough and wood. There is also some butter in here, which is, not at all pleasant. A bizarre beer with little to recommend.

Bottle. Pours a clear straw color with a thin even white head. Moderate corny grain on the aroma, light sweetness. Taste is sweet up front, grainy in the middle, and the finish is sweet and shows some skunk. No lager crispness evident.

Pours a golden color with a white head. Heavy on the carbonation. Huge aroma of straw, grass, dirt, and malts. Taste is of straw, yeast, and malt. Watery, and not very tasty. Not worth drinking again.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Headbanger. Aroma is a dusty malt scent. Color is a deep gold with mellow carboantion and a thin tight head. Taste is crisp and sweet. Starting with a light body it goes down a smooth yet crisp feel. Finish comes in with a heavier taste then I was expecting, its a sweet creamy malt flavor with just a hint of hop bitterness. After taste is a lingering of the sweet and creamy. Its an interesting brew.
