Commercial Description:
You're holding an old-world inspired anniversary beer, commemorating 99 years of handcrafted brewing at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. The countdown to 100 continues with this refreshingly bright Munich Style Helles Lager. Every glass of malty gold is topped with an aromatic cloud of mild, Hallertau hoppiness. Its slightly sweet finish is perfectly suited for any celebration. Prosit!

12 oz bottle. Nice malty smell upon popping is a good sign. Pours yellow and bubbly, but shows some substance to its color, with a short fizzy head. Taste is malty, bready, but also a tiny bit syrupy. Bit of adjunct, maybe? Yet, it shows more malt character than the majority of American pale fizzy lagers. Hops are a bit indistinct when they be giving this a more German backbone. Still, it’s not bad, and definitely an individual beer.

Crystal clear golden body (almost too clear!), constantly bubbling with a quickly diminishing white head. Bland malt aroma that is fairly one dimensional (tart sweetness). Carbonation on the nose, then turning to a sweet maltiness. Very little hopiness on the end with lingering sweetness. The carbonation and sweetness intermingle in a not so pleasant manner. Overall, Shiner put all of their eggs in one basket on this one w/ their one dimensional malting profile. I think this beer could have had a bit more hops and a little less carbonation, and it would move up one level. This is an okay beer to sit back and drink, but I probably won’t be going back to it.

Nice Clarity with a small head. Decent compaction of bubbles. Nice beer on a hot Texas day. One of their better beers.

Bottle from Belmont Party. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium balanced flavor with a light bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a soft brew.

Poured a nice clear gold color with a head that did not last at all. The aroma is OK but nothing to write home about, a little hoppiness. Not much to the flavor or mouthfeel either. This is more of a chugging beer for me which is exactly what I did. There is just not much too this beer.

Perfectly respectable lawn mower beer. This probably would have tasted better ice col. Poured a gold color with a lot of carbonation. Kind of a "generic beer" flavor with some fairly bland malt and not much in the way of hops. Wouldn’t go out of my way for this one, but if someone brought over a six-pack I wouldn’t be sad.

bottle. poured a clear gold with a fizzy thin head that diminished quickly. aroma of malts, hops, and a small hint of citrus. flavor is kinda fruity with some sweetness. not very impressive.
