Commercial Description:
You're holding an old-world inspired anniversary beer, commemorating 99 years of handcrafted brewing at the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. The countdown to 100 continues with this refreshingly bright Munich Style Helles Lager. Every glass of malty gold is topped with an aromatic cloud of mild, Hallertau hoppiness. Its slightly sweet finish is perfectly suited for any celebration. Prosit!

Beer is very watery looking with a very thin head. On the nose you can smell malt and hops. Flavor is unimpressive, but it does fall in line with other helles from the states. Better the a lot of beer, but not Shiners best effort.

Bottle. For aroma mostly malted grains like the Shiner Spezial Leicht. This one did have a sweet fruity presence. Gold body with white head and some good carbination bubble action inside the pint glass. Flavor of sweet malts and light fruit mixed in. Palatable beer.

Another hum-drum offering from Spoetzl. Light wheaty, malty taste with little complexity. Light yellow color with much carbonation. Not bad, but not worth writing home about either.

Bottle from Total Wine and More (Roseville). Slightly brassy gold color with a fizzy white head that rapidly declined. Smells of grain and grassy hop. A bit thin in body with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is lightly bready with not all that much noble hop. Finishes ok. Fits the style. Pair it with hot dogs.

Bottle. Poured a brilliant, crystal clear gold with a minimal white head that didn’t last. No real lacing to speak of. Bready, slightly soapy aroma. Slightly, sweet, biscuity flavor. Could be slightly better balanced with hop bitterness. Not a bad session beer though.

From a bottle poured a nice light copper color with a small head. Nice lager flavor with a quick finish.

Golden color......very thin head. Slightly sweet malt aroma. Somewhat of a sweet malt taste throughout, with just a hint of bitterness......pretty crisp mouthfeel.
