| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Updated: Nov 25, 2009nice Golden Brown with little aroma, lightly carbonated. Overall generally crisp with lots of toasty malts, light amount of hoppiness and a fairly clean finish. flavor has notes of cereal and caramel. A good all around beer, the kind where you could drink 3 or 4 or more. could also be a good summer beer. bblack99 (212), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 19, 2008 MUCH better than Lone Star, this should reign as the official beer of Texas. Not a great beer, but more complex than some others.
Dark caramel color with a tannish head. Simple straightforward malt flavor. Worth a six-pack, not quite a case. hobbersr (412), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Pours a reddish amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of toffee, malt, sweet candy-ish notes, apples, wine notes as well. Palate is lighter than I would expect with the colour and pretty thin. Tastes of toffee, apples, a little bitter hops, fairly malty, fairly mediocre. dwaggs2 (560), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a brown color with a two finger head. Aroma is malt. Taste is not very good. Not a whole lot there. Not worth the price. troopie (896), USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Bottle. Poured Dark red brown with a small head and no lacing. Aroma is grassy and slightly malty, like a lager. Thin flavour with some slight caramel note. Slight but lingering finish, with a bit of bitterness. The previous rater is right, this is not a bock, this a dark lager, better than most industrial lagers, but this is not a bock. tarheels86 (799), Washington DC, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 7, 2008 On tap. Pours a dark amber with a modest beige head and some great lacing. Aroma is incredibly sweet with whiffs of toffee and caramel. Taste is a little watery and similar to Yuengling albeit a bit heavier- very much like artificial maple syrup. Long, sweet aftertaste. Not offensive, smooth and drinkable. But this is not a bock. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 1, 2008 Pours clear brown with a thin ashy tan head. Aroma is faint but mostly adjunct with maybe a little caramel. Flavor is more adjunct kind of sour, grainy malts. Finish is tart and metallic, in a bad way. Was one of the first "dark beers" I tried back in (maybe) my underage years thought I’d give it another shot, it’s still not very good. Way overcarbonated too, but that’s probably a good thing, because you’de probably want those malt notes washed out.
