This Texas bock is not actually a bock, but it’s beautiful to the lager lover. I lived in Texas and this was champion. Back in PA, this is hard to find. It is akin to Yuengling in most respects, its aroma is almost not present. The appreance is the amber variety. The flavor is distinct, very smooth a little spice. The palate feel is very smooth. Again a lager so it’s not going to shock you. If you love watching a game with a beer in hand this is your partner. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA

The fully diminishing off white frothy head leaves no lace. The brew pours a clear copper. As far as the beer’s thin flavor goes, now I know who AB ripped off when they introduced Michelob Amber Bock. Of course it’s been a while, MAB might be a tad sweeter and more sticky; I don’t really care to remember to be perfectly honest. A turd’s a turd whether it’s brown or black, ya feel me? At least it’s balanced and non-offensive for the macro masses. The light watery body is fizzy and crisp at the finish.

I’m actually surprised how dark it is, and although I’ve had Shiner Bock before, this is the first time I’ve poured it into a glass. Flavor: Smooth and malty. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Pours out a dark amber color with a nice head. aroma is rather malty with hints of caramel. Flavor was similar. Not bad. Beaver (598), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear caramel amber with a fizzy off white head that quickly disappears.
The aroma is sweet metallic malts with some DMS.
The flavor is heavily sweet malts - caramel and toffee with a lilttle toastedness. The mouthfeel is medium and watery with a little sharp carbonation.
Overall, it’s not bad tasting (much more flavor than I expected), but overbalanced on the sweet side. It’s better than the macros. FishManLA (297), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 20, 2008 A comptent brew. Always reminds me more of a pale ale than a lager. It has a "grittiness" (I pondered that word, I’ve concluded it’s the right one) to the taste that I can never decide if it’s a good or a bad attribute to the brew. kflorence (93), San Diego, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Bottle, it was on sale at the grocery store and I hadn’t tried it yet, so I decided to give it a go. Poured the first one, not much head at all, smell was hoppy and metallic with some toasty notes in there as well. Although it is kind of dark in color, it is not a heavy beer and it’s very easy to drink. The flavor is sweet, toasted and nutty with some hop flavor as well. It’s really not bad, more than I expected, but it’s nothing special. It lacks the flavor that real bocks bring to the table and has nothing that makes it stand out, but it tastes pretty good and is light enough to be drinkable, so I can’t complain. tonedef (3), USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2008 this is a good beer. although not a traditional bock, it is one of my favorites. every variety of shiner i have tried have been great.
