Commercial Description:
Shiner Dunkelweizen is a crisp, hearty brew modeled after a Bavarian-style dunkelweizen, German for dark wheat. Shiner Dunkelweizen is fermented with an old-world technique called Kräusening, brewed to be smooth and rich without being heavy on the palate. Its subtle flavors come from the brew’s malted wheat and malted barley. This beer uses the old Czech mashing technique of taking small portions of the mash and boiling, then mixing it back in the main mash. This technique, called ‘decotion’, takes a great deal more time... but develops the rich dark color and creates the body which is enjoyed in the finished beer.

Bottle: Aroma of cherry candy, caramel, and nuts. Pours a transparent copper with a minimal off-white head. Flavor starts with light caramel and has a cherry candy presence in the background. Finishes with a moderate nuttiness and light grassy hops. Rather boring.

Eh, dunleweizen? Don’t think so. Pretty much misses the style completely. Next.

The aroma has brown sugar, toasted bread, and herbal hops. The appearance is a clear red-brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. I like this one pretty good.

Wasnt too impressed with this, for a Dunkle it seemed pretty bland with its normal taste of caramel and malts. Very Decent for a good drink though

This beer has a warm, bready smell, and a nice brown color. The commercial description is quite accurate--smooth and rich without being heavy on the palate. Generally, my predjudice is more toward a heavy taste, but this beer is quite good for being so light-tasting. The taste reminds me of toasted whole-grain bread.

Not bad. Reminds me of a weizenbock. There is caramel aroma and very light wheat. A little thin and brown but no sediment. A little sweet but lacks the characteristics of a good wheat beer.

Though this may be a bit oxidized due to when I am sampling, the beer tasted quite nice. Good amber color and fairly meaty body. Nice finish with some spice residual. Somewhat wheaty but not what was expected. Good overall but not a winter warmer. Great I would believe for the fall and spring.

Has a amber brown body with a medium off whit head. Flavoe is more akin to a dunkel than a wheat beerwith a small amount of straw noticable in the palate. Peppercorn taste up front finishing with a bit of lemon. Makes for a better summer ale than winter.
