Commercial Description:
Shiner Dunkelweizen is a crisp, hearty brew modeled after a Bavarian-style dunkelweizen, German for dark wheat. Shiner Dunkelweizen is fermented with an old-world technique called Kräusening, brewed to be smooth and rich without being heavy on the palate. Its subtle flavors come from the brew’s malted wheat and malted barley. This beer uses the old Czech mashing technique of taking small portions of the mash and boiling, then mixing it back in the main mash. This technique, called ‘decotion’, takes a great deal more time... but develops the rich dark color and creates the body which is enjoyed in the finished beer.

I live in texas, so almost all the shiners are on tap at any decent place that serves beer. Not as strong as expected, but thats the beer market these days. taste great from the tap though, and just about the best i can get when i go out to dinner.

Not a bad beer from shiner. THis beer poors a nice mahogany, clear beer witha significant tan head. Mod lacing present. Aroma is malty, caramel . Flavor is initially sweet, some balancing bitterniess in the finish and has a significant tast of candy sugar (slight metalic taste as well). Palte is medium bodied and decent.

Thanks John? The beer pours to a reddish-brown body with a thick, lasting creamy beige head. Leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is very sweet and bready. There’s also some strange artificial nut or perhaps it’s just poorly made (in terms of aroma). The flavor is malty with a light chalkyness and cardboard like quality. This is not very good. The palate is chalky and dry and metallic. I could do without this one. Drain pour.

This beer pours a dark amber color with a small tan head. THere is a malty sweet aroma. The Flavor is malty alomst breadlike and dry. Not one of the better beers I’ve had.

Aroma had a sweet maly odor on the nose. Nice mahagony color body with decent head. Flavor was a mild/ medium sweet cherry flavor. Smooth on palate. Thanks to secret Santa for this one.

bottle-pours a clrea mahogony hue with a fizzy lightly soapy white head. light diacytl, sweet malts, extract, cardboard, light spice aromas. flavors are cardboard, boring malt profile (sweet carmel) and a light hop kick. some light chocolate detected. palate is weak and flimsy but full for the style. long grainy finish with light bitterness and a nutty quality. ok

Pour is a deep, dark red with a small white head. Aroma is like a toffe with some hops in there. Flavor is malty and the hops show up here as well. Still nothing to get excitied about. Bland in the end.
