Flavor is dark and malty, bittersweet with a finish that is dry and rather unique, I thought ... a biterness bordering on unpleasantness that fades quickly into a toasted nut aftertaste. A different sort of beer; not bad at all. BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 27, 2005 Pours a clean mahagoney to golden nut brown, similar to a maple syrup, and with a fastly diminishing light brown head. Aroma is spicy caramel malt with hops circulating around the glass and a hint of apples. Flavor is a hoppy wheat with a dry spicy finish. Palate is warm, medium-bodied, and fizzy. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 25, 2005 Well this is my first dunkelweizen rating. What I like is the fact that it should largely be uphill from here. The fruitcake seetness from this amber brew has promise. The slight caramel and fruit notes are enticing. But in both cases I mean in a better put-together beer. This was too thin and too mild to have much of an impact. Perhaps could do with some more life to it, Not terrible, but below average for what I would search out. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 20, 2005 pours clear brown. smells mildly fruity with mild apple and tea notes. very mild spice and yeast in the flavour and the palate is kind of lacking in sprtiziness. not a bad beer, but not what I’d expect from a dunkel-weizen. radiomgb (2068), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Aroma was slightly malty, some caramel and raisins. Flavour was of light caramel, mild malt, slightly sweet. Light body, light carbonation. Finishes with a quick bitterness. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2005 a pleasant surprise is to be found here in this little krystal dunkel weissen; beaver brown with a ruby soul; a soft head the color of wild mushrooms was responsive only to glass jiggling-- but quickly self-effacing between swirls. the dark malts express themselves in accents of black cherry and toasted hazlenuts. just a trace of brown banana might signal a yeast constituent-- but otherwise it has little wheat flavor or yeastiness. a very tasty light to medium-bodied crispy carbonated sweet dunkel with a slight note of cider. a gesture of bitterness cloaked in a polished woody drying effect. after i’d rated one, i opened another to accompany a lovely fonseca pyramid; the cigar and beer intertwined as gracefully as morning glory and a sun-drenched trellis. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Pours a dark amber color with a small white head. Malty aroma with a hint of raisins. Nice spicy and malty flavor with a medium mouthfeel. Bitter finish. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Thanks to TChrome for this. The dunkelweizen style is a style that we just don’t see enough of. Having said that, this one pours deep ruby with two-finger uniform ecru head. No less than 4 for appearance here, boys and girls. Aroma of malt, slight acidic fruits, slight cognac. Tastes malty, with a firm toffee, nutty, caramel base. Not very complex, and a bit uninspiring, but not bad. Like the vaginal secretions of your ex-girlfriend, this one is quaffable and forgettable, but you wouldn’t pass it up if it came across your path, took off its clothes, and said "F_ck me now, baby".
