A grainy smell almost reminiscent of blueberry bagels is sweet and pleasing. The taste is sweet wheat and slightly fruity (it does not have any spicyness or sourness typical of a dunkelweizen). However there is no balance.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Updated: Jun 30, 2008This was a good beer but I think it barely makes the Dunkelweizen catadory, so Im just going to rate this based on a basic winter ale. Was reddish in color with a flavor that should please the masses but not a beer drinker who favors dunkel’s. They should have just called this a "Winter Ale" although it would have been missing some of the spices that are commonly known in winter ales. Has a nice malty taste with a hint of roast. sweet. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 10, 2007 THOUGHTS: Looked really nice but wasn’t cloudy and didn’t have a large head, so it doesn’t look like a dunkelweizen. An OK beer, but an awful dunkelweizen. I wouldn’t recommend this one.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium to dark reddish amber with great carbonation and a small, creamy, white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was light roasted , burnt and caramel malts with very light chocolate and moderately yeasty with metallic notes, some wheat and a little bit of spice and, I may have been imagining this but, cola too. The flavor initial flavor was lightly sweet, while the finish was moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter and also sour with an average duration. The flavor was roasted and burnt malts. It was very metallic and burnt with a little chocolate or coffee. The light to medium body was watery and a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and slighlty chalky finish. kidmartinek (986), austin, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Poured a thin head which dissipated immediately. Really nice looking reddish amber color. Aroma is a dried fruit (raisin/prune) with hints of spice (clove/nutmeg). Light roasted nutty malt flavor. Overall... a really nice winter brew. I’m hooked. badinplaid (103), USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Not the best of winter brews. Shiner Bock is much better... Moderate aroma....drinkable body. It is wet. KDorgan12 (169), Memphis, Tennessee, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Bottle-Memphis. Flavor was okay, crystal clear ruby red - not very indicadive of the style, non-sustaining head. Disappointing.
