Aroma had some bubblegum and yeast, but a liitle soapy and subdued. Seems to me that it tastes like a weird combination of a dunkelweizen, an oktoberfest and water. Alot of sweet malt, with some banana/clove/bubblegum. Not a horrible flavor, but pretty poor for a style that I like. Too watery as well. golubj (1290), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 9, 2007 Bottle. Not much aroma, some sweet malt. Flavor is mostly of caramel malt and some bubblegum but not much flavor of either. Decent mouthfeel. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 25, 2007 12 oz bottle from Soonah. Clear dark brown with an off white head. Sweet caramel and nuts, but with a slightly metallic edge. Some funky mustiness. Sweet flavors of toasty caramel and light wheat, still with a metallic edge. Eh. garrison (457), Cin. city, Ohio, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 13, 2007 From a twelve ounce bottle purchased in the bustling metropolis of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky - This one pours a dark brown brew with a light tan, quickly fadiing head of foam and a malty aroma. Tastewise... this is NOT a dunkelweizen or, at least, it doesn’t have the banana-clove combo one would expect from a weizen. No, this brew tastes very much like a bock, and I’m sticking to that! churchill00 (154), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 8, 2007 Bottle. Pours a medium to deep red with a rocky head that diminishes quickly. Taste is grainy and acidic--medium bodied. Watery for a German dunkelweizen. Once upon a time Shiner called this Winter Ale. The label was pretty neat. That’s about it. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 7, 2007 Kind of a mediocre Dunkelweizen. Looks nice, a deep caramel/amber color, although the fizzy head fades somewhat rapidly. The aroma is malty and slightly rusty. It tastes of soft malts, a touch of wheat, and has a mineral water finish. Drinkable, but not readily identifiable as a wheat beer.
