| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2008 The beer had a semi-cloudy, gold-amber color, with noticeable sediment and a small white head. An aroma of yeast and wheat, with some grainy hops, and a bit of barley malt present. The taste was a slight sweetness with a mix of wheaty character and some bitterness to balance. Average to low carbonation, with a wetter, thinner body without a lot of feel. OldGrowth (1426), North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2008 bottle, from trade with unclemike. Ok aroma. On the cardboard/ peppery side of things, minor fruit, yeasty citrusy. little toasted wheat. Tad hazed, though a bunch of sediment stayed on the bottom of bottle, orangy gold color. Good head that faded quickly. little to no lace. Bitter sour flavor. Lite body, thin kind of creamy mouthfeel, sour dry finish. Maybe the dullest Hefe I’ve had, really was unlike any I’ve had and not in a good way. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Pours a very pale yellow in color and surprsingly, no head forms on the pour. Smell is somewhat spicy and adjuncts. Taste is disappointing. Not a refreshing, lemony, floral hefe, but more of a BMC. Nothing to note here in the nose, taste or mouthfeel. This may be good as a hot summer day pounder, but you’re not going to get anything out of it. There are much better examples of the style out there. durhambeer (1215), Durham, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Ha, the new label fooled me. Forgot this has been around for awhile. Really loved the nose on this beer. Similar to Hennepin... American take on a saison, which was more than I expected. More spicy/peppery that most hefe’s. Citrusy as well. Palate and taste did not follow through as I hoped it would. Solid, and underrated in my mind. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 29, 2008 12oz bottle. Aroma: Wheat and pepper, yeast and a slight citrus note. Appearance: Medium gold in color and cloudy. White head was huge and foamy with good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Light and grainy malt, peppery spiciness, some mild lemon flavor and yeast. The wheat sourness in this beer just overpowers everything else. A slight medicinal flavor in the finish. Palate: Medium-light bodied and watery. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: Not a terrible beer, but one I’ll never seek out again. Flavors were muddled and the sourness was just weird.
