Commercial Description:
Shiner Hefeweizen (Hef-ay-vite-zen) is a classic unfiltered Bavarian-style wheat brew. Once poured into a glass, the distinctively cloudy Shiner Hefeweizen delivers a fresh, satisfying flavor from start to finish.

Draft - Hazy straw color, thin white fizzy head. Bland nose of lemon and wheat. Flavors are crisp and lemony with light touches of earthy wheat. Light bodied, prickly carbonation, dry wheaty finish. Overall, American wheats need some serious help. In the future, a good base recipe should be along the lines of 3 F’s Gumballhead....

A better than average commercial brew. Nice cloudy appearance, little head, wheaty aroma, but sadly no wheat flavor. Not a strong wheat at all, may be reserved as to not offend the palate of Coors drinkers. A crisp refreshing brew, nice with a lemon.

Draft at Mahoney’s, Tucson. Not a bad hefe, just not that exciting. It looked like a hefe, the wheat aroma was there along with some of that twang, but didn’t pick up any of the great stuff like clove, bubblegum, or banana.

Ehh. Same boring hazy yellow with a tiny head. Musty wheat and lemon on the nose. Watery and weak in the taste department. Why do I continue to try American Wheats?

Pours very cloudy, effervescent, straw-gold, fluffy white head. Looks good in the glass. Aromas of citrus and earth. Tastes less impressive: somewhat insipid mouthfeel, a bit of astringency with not much else going on throughout, slight bitterness and oily-ness in the finish. Uncompelling.

Purs a cloudy golden yellow-orange. Thinck but quikcly disappearing head. Bitter with a slight hop aftertaste. Citrus and yeast (almost bready), more orange peel than anything. Slight buttery on the tongue, almost thin except for that. Sweet on the sides of the mouth. Not terrible but not great either. (Bottle Pour 8/30/2005)

On tap at Tokyo Steakhouse in Lewes DE. Pours a cloudy golden yellow small bubbly white head. Aroma of your typical hefe (lemon, wheat, yeast). Flavors of the same. Kind of light on both the aroma and flavor.
