The aroma found banana, lemon, and hints of orange. The flavor had banana, citrus, malts, and some spices in the background. Smooth and enjoyable but nothing to write home about. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 17, 2006 I had this at a bevmo tasting of various hefe weizens. this brew was creamy (not crisp) and had almost a lemon cream flavor. Tasted ok, but not like a hefe. Likerighteous (120), Pflugerville, Texas, USA

Wheaties and water is what my father had for breakfast living in the slums of Houston in the forties. Makes me think of him. Sweet as typical with Spoetzels and more bitter than I expected. Good value weizen. mrchug645 (71), alb, New Mexico, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2006 Shiner Hefeweizen pours to a murky, bright, pale golden color with a tall, thick, creamy white head, and a very vibrant carbonation. As with all hefeweizens, you pour most of the bottle into your glass, and save about an ounce or so of beer in the bottle to roust the yeast, and pour the yeast into the glass. It is the yeast that give hefeweizen its very cloudy, opaque appearance, and you want that, not just for looks but for flavor. The nose on this beer is very inviting and complex. I pick up some slight fruity and estery aromas of pear and banana, and some citrus aromas of orange and zesty lemon, paired with some wheaty malt aromas and some sweet honey aroma. The palate is firm and crisp, with lots of good tart wheat malt flavors, some estery fruit flavor, and just a touch of honey flavor on the tongue. Shiner Hefeweizen finishes with more tart wheat malt and honey flavors up front, then ends with just a touch of honey sweetness, and a slight burst of citrus that lingers.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 22, 2006 Slightly cloudy pour, golden color with a white creamy head that reduces to a thick ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing. Aroma is wheaty without being raspy. Citrus and grass notes. Flavor is mild with nothing offiensive. Pretty standard hefe. Mild citrus, mild wheat, mild yeast. Mild is the word to use. I don’t think it is quite deserving of its brutally low average, but it isn’t anything exciting. Casteel420 (59), Bristol, Virginia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/20 | Jan 17, 2006 Dark cloudy pour, with a decent amount of head. Thick citrus-bread aroma. Taste very yeasty and malty with some citrus overtone. The label is awesome, but the beer is not as unique.
