No bubblegum, no banana and just a tad bit of citrus flavor. Having said that, it was quite drinkable. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Sep 9, 2005 Hazy deep straw in color with a small white head.Aroma and flavor is mildly fruity and spicy.American hefe mmaybe, but it’s a boring style to begin with. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Sep 7, 2005 (12 oz bottle: A & J Liquor in Covina, CA) I think the best thing about this bottle of beer is the amusing label. And step 3 on the back label calls for a generous wedge of lemon. There’s a reason for that. It tastes lightly wheaty and spicy I guess initially, but turns kind of sweet and bready and lightly bitter toward the finish, all leading to a general tin and stale cardboard aftertaste. The nose shows some resemblance to a German hefeweizen, there’s something spicy going on in the background, but the dominant aroma is something bad that defies description, maybe a stale lager. The only way to make this beer smell reasonably good is to quickly swirl it, but the pleasant aroma is quickly beaten back into bondage within three seconds. Light bodied, but at least it isn’t watery. Medium gold color. The white head is average in height on the pour and in retention, fading to a broken sheen, and leaving no lacing. Never again. jefcon (1007), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 26, 2005 Cloudy, yellow, etc. etc. etc. This brew is just not convincing as an American hefe. It is bland, bitter, light on the palate, and just overall indistinct. Not my favorite, and not even suitable for a vertical tasting. it registers on the banana side of hefes and contributes light spice to flavor and nose, but that’s about it. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Pour is nice cloudy yellow with a thin white head...not a lot going on in the smell department...taste is bland and flavorless...maybe there is a rotten banana in there somewhere... | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Usual cloudy at first wheat beer. Nice head on it. Pretty yellow color. A little thick, and nice on the palate. But the taste is not so good. Very strange fruity sweet flavor with citrusy flavors also. But a strange aftertaste. Not Shiner’s best. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 22, 2005 ugh, not worthy of being called a wheat beer or a hefe. almost had an aroma of banana lemon and orange, and even closer to having any flavor at all... wait... no it wasn’t. it was flat and kinda pointless to my tastebuds.
