Minimal citrus aromas with some sweet and spicy flavors. Lacks the big clove and bubblegum notes found in German wheats. The brew itself is rather thin and a bit watery. It’s enjoyable but very mild. I love the Shiner Bock, but the hefe is the best. Drink it because Zac said so. MrBunn (1561), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2005 By far the best Shiner product I’ve tried to date. Pours a nice light and dusty gold with a massive foamy head (that disipates rather quickly.) Aroma is weak... of sweet malt, maybe some grassy scents, with minimal lemon. Lemon comes through stronger in taste (although is never too pronounced). Other flavors that intermingle include sweet malt and hay. The sweet flavors compliment the understated lemon rather well, making this one a rather fine (cheap) refreshing summer brew. beerguy101 (3971), Newark, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 11, 2005 12 oz bottle. Light gold color, hazy. Medium sized white foamy head, weak lacing. Aroma is malt and fruit, touch of banana esters. A medium bodied Hefeweizen. Malts are fruity and sweet with only a slight touch of banana and clove. Grassy and a little sweet. Light and refreshing. Hints of lemon. Little lackluster at the finish, but drinkable. A whole lot better than I was expecting. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2005 Very citrusy aroma and flavor, mostly along the grapefruit & lemon twists, with a near-perfect proportion of malt in the mouth and hops in the finish. Quite on the positive side of this genre in that the wheat is highly prominent but not overwhelmingly "Yeasty" -- the downfall of many a hefeweizen. Other elements of this beer include an appearance that is true to the classic style, with little head (probably due to the unfilteredness) and a cloudy light-orange color showing plenty of microscopic floaties. Aroma is very refreshing, malty with just a touch of hops and fruitiness. My first beer from this outfit and perhaps my favorite American hefe ... definitely one of the best choices for a summer refresher (try it with and without a twist of lemon). bu11zeye (5675), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 26, 2005 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a impressive billowy, lasting white head. Aroma of lemon, orange, and banana, some metallic off ness, but nothing overly offensive. Flavor is light citrus, but somewhat weak and watery. Drinkable, but not all that good. “Full Moon, or was it half moon.”
