Shiner Hefeweizen

12 oz bottle: Aroma is wheat, grainy, lager twang, a bit skunky, and almost a medicinal scent. Pours a cloudy orange and a fluffy medium sized head that lingers around for a while. Taste has got wheat, a bit of orange in it, somewhat sour, and a little bit of clove hidden in the back end. Palate is sour on the tongue with a lingering wheat bread characteristic to the aftertaste. Overall, It’s really not that great at all, decent maybe, good....eh. I think that this is not a good representation of the style. Cheers!

pours a semi-hazy pale yellow-orange with a thin white head, and some lacing. smell is faint, wheat, citrus, and a touch of spice. taste is watery, orange, some lemon, a touch of honey, and wheat, end is very tart.

Nothing special here. Another solid effort from Shiner, but with all of the wheats out there this is not where I would be spending time.

Pours straw-colored and lightly hazy woth an average, white, fizzy, creamy head which settles fairly quickly to a very small layer and leaves minimal lace. Nose is light but largely of citrus peels (lemon and orange apparently), light esters, light wheat, and some faint sweet note (honey?). Flavor is akward; completely dominated by lemon juice notes with faint esters, and faint sweet notes (honey). Palate is lively to fizzy, thin, watery, and light-bodied. Finishes almost non-existent with some lingering honey and lemon. Lemon juice does not strike me as appealing in any style of beer. Sad attempt at a hefe.

From bottle. Part of January Dayton Beer Tasting event. Pours hazy gold color with decent white head. So far so good - but then ...... Strange metallic flavors overpower the taste. Not good. Avoid.

Nasty. Tastes like equal part watered-down wheat beer, lemon juice, and ass sweat. Do not like.

Pours a somewhat hazy straw yellow with a nice thick white head. Aroma is strong and wheaty with a dominating citrus component, mainly lemon. Flavor is fairly typical of a wheat beer and has a nice lemony overtone. Texture is smooth, just a little bit on the watery side.

Off-wheat nose and flavor. Yeasty and acidic flavor. Thin and almost sour. Not good... This would have been a drain pour if I hadn’t been at a friend’s house.
