Commercial Description:
Effervescent, this summer brew is fashioned after the Kolsch biers that originated in Cologne, Germany, in the 1800s. Hallertau, Magnum, and Mount Hood hops combine for an especially clean, crisp finish.

Amber of color with a white head. An aroma of hops and crispy. A flavor of hops, fruits and fresh.

I love Kolsch, but this one doesn’t quite add up. Good color and head retention but a weak nose. Will have to retaste from another six pack sometime soon. Clean on the palate with a pleasant herbal dryness. Finish is rather short but crisp. Still very refreshing and thirst quenching, but that is to be expected from probably any example of the style. Good to see another addition to the domestic Kolsch list but this one is miles behind Pyramid Curve Ball and others.

Golden pour with a nice refreshing smell. Wheat and a little bit of hops. Nice on a hot summer day in Texas.

Overall Impression: Actually enjoy this one, it’s not a great beer, but for a summer style Kolsch (which was their goal!) it works pretty well, higher up for it’s style then many of the other Shiner beers.

Light gold pour, thin white head, a bit of a sweet smell, bitter from beginning to end, the only Kolsch I’ve had, so I’ve nothing to compare it.

A bit too carbonated for my taste. Didn’t really get much flavor from the hops. I felt this was more like a mass-produced larger beer...clean finish but little in the way of flavor.

Makes for a very nice summer sipper. Nice golden pour with the expected kolsch taste. Refreshing to the end.

Can’t say I cared for this one. Poured a clear golden color with lots of carbonation and a thin head. Light grainy aroma. Mild malt flavor with some bite on the back of the tongue. Not really bad, but not much there to recommend it ,either.
