Commercial Description:
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

Pours copper/gold with a thin white head. Smells of corn, some spice, stale hops, earthy. Tastes of caramel, spice, some sweet citrussy splashes on the finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle from ericandersnavy (who hasn’t rated it) thanks!! Pours copper with a rapidly disappearing white head. Warm malty aroma with a hit of grassy hop. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is smoothly, caramelly with some spicey hop. Underrated. If the ABV was way up, it might be all the rage. If there were a barleywine bell curve, this could be placed on it. Off to the left quite a bit, but it suggests that sort of flavor.

Bottle (12oz). Shared by garthicus with me and blankboy. Clear amber, no head. Grain and tupentine aroma, sweet and harsh. Tastes like fake maple syrup aged in an old LawnBoy bag - ugh. Light, slick, still mouthfeel, sweet, with an ugly aftertaste. Tick - and NEVER again.

Sampled on 4/20/2009. This premium lager pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head, with no retention or lacing. Aroma is caramel malts, some grain and something vegetal. A medium bodied lager. The malts are cereal and grainy, somewhat sweet. The hops are floral. Kind of flat and watery. Add some weird cardboard, vegetal tastes and this beer is just plain bad. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle [12oz] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o garthicus. Pours a clear golden-orange with an average size off-white head. Aroma: Yuck: Grain, vegetables and a bit of garbage. Sweet and watery flavour of grain and corn syrup. Light bodied. Not good at all.

Pours with no head over a very light cardboard hued body. Aroma of cereal, light german hops, a bit of dust and a touch of DMS (cooked corn). Taste is a bit of dirt or soil, metallic copper and DMS. Bone dry mouthfeel and a metallic finish. Kosmos should be rolling in his grave knowing this was named after him.

Clear orange, nice rocky white head. Malty aroma, with a bit of a vegetal note. Nicely crisp. Mildly hoppy at first, then a touch of bready malt. Decent and quaffable.
