Commercial Description:
“Kosmos Spoetzl knew how to brew great beer. Born in Bavaria, Kosmos’ mastery of German brewing carried him as far as Egypt before he found his way to the small Texas town of Shiner. Our proud brewery still carries his name and commitment to excellence in brewing. This full-flavored, hop-jacked lager is every bit as unique as the man himself and our way of saluting the brewmaster who started it all.”

Pours tan with a thick white that dissipates quickly. Taste like flat carbonated water with a hint carmel, drinkable but not enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a medium sized head of white foam and aromas of euro-skunked hops with a little grass and corn. Flavor is similar... a kind of grainy lager with a little skunky hops. A couple of steps up from macro-swill, but not very interesting.

Aroma of malty caramel. Nice clear red tinted amber pour, with some nice bubbles. A little too much carbonation makes the beer fizzy in the mouth, makes it difficult to taste much. FIrst time I had this beer I thought it was pretty good, now I am not to sure.

Bottle from a family pack. Pours a nice golden yellow with a decent white head that lasts. Taste and aroma is rather clean. Some malt and hops come through. Some bitterness. Refreshing and easy to drink.

Pours light copper color with off white head that doesn’t last. Lightly toasted malt aroma with some nuttiness. Caramel malts, slighly sweet and nutty flavor. Medium body with soft carbonation.

Nothing too special, but definitely my favorite offering from Shiner thus far.

( 12oz bottle thanks to angrypirate) He must have been angry to have provided this one. What did I do to deserve this?! Pours very clear amber, decent bubbly head with ok lacing. Nose of slight sour notes, meaty. The taste has a lager-like bite, grain, tart/old apples. Nice carbonation but a bad aftertaste. Speaking of which, what exactly was Kosmos RESERVING this beer for?? Probably some in-laws that he hated. Here guys, drink this!

What a big, frothy white head on this one!  Big-bubbled frothy lacing.  Clear golden color with slow but steady carbonation.  Musky sweet lager aroma.  Flavor a little sour and bitter, almost pilsener-like.  The top of my mouth feels like it’s shriveling up.  Better than I expected: it’s missing that bitter metallic flavor, and that’s a good thing.  Mineral water-like finish.

Light amber and sparkling clear. White head that disappears rapidly. Not much on nose but a hint of grass/straw. Light bodied and not much character or finish for a ’reserve’ beer. Expected much more.
