This one is smokey, so, y’know, nice work. Actually tastes better than it smells, with the smoke flavor seeming more real than the smoke aroma. All in all, not a bad effort from Shiner. Sampled at lithy’s Septemberfest. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Pours a clear gold with off white head. Aroma of bread, fruit, slight smoke. Similar taste, definitely some smoked meat going on. Not as smoky as I would have liked, but pleasant nonetheless. Butters (1653), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Sampled at Lithy’s Septemberfest Tasting. Clear pale gold with ring of white head. Nose is a little light ham, with a little wet dog. Flavor is like drinking a sweet budwieser with some smokiness. Not bad, but I do have a penchant for smoke. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 4, 2009 yellow copper body with white oily head. High carbonation. Not noticing much smokiness from this beer, a little "clothes smells the night after a smokey bar" smell, mainly corn on the noise. Smoke is definitely there in the mouth, along with some "meaty" associations. Pleasant, but a bit one sided, lacking any malt to support it. Aftertaste is a bit like saltines and the smell of a campfire. Enjoyable. daknole (3027), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 1, 2009 Gold pour. off white head. Aroma has a nice dose of smoky bacon, bready and some light fruit notes. Flavor tastes kind of like a shitty beer with some liquid smoke...hmmmm...well maybe I am onto something? | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 1, 2009 pours a golden yellow with a bright white head. Taste is pilsner like, but there is a strong liquid smoke like aftertaste that I found displeasing. I tried the beer for the novelty, and it is not a bad beer, it is just not something I really enjoyed. It might have been better had I been eating a hamburger or some kind of BBQ, as the taste reminded me of drinking budweiser while eating BBQ. ratman197 (3256), Arvada, Colorado, USA
