This brew taste an awful lot like their bock, but maybe one that you like sitting next to your smoker then drank. It’s not bad might pair well with BBQ maybe...

filtered, force-carbonated, medium yellow, small white head. nose is mild ashtray smoke (burnt paper, burnt corn kernels, burnt dried hay, etc.) with some semi-sweet corn and cracked barley, but artificial and metallic. flavor not much different: metallic, twangy malt sweetness, poor malt structure throughout - thin and watery and only getting worse in the finish. nothing good about it.

I picked up a single bottle of this brew. It had a faint smell of obviously smoked mesquite, but nothing that really makes me even thirstier. The appearance was slightly darker than a pale lager (which is never appealing) and had a head retention of about 10 seconds with no lacing at all. Initial taste of malt with a strong finish of smoked wood. Lively carbonation on the palate with a slippery context. All in all, the style percentile says it all.

Light gold pour with a thick fluffy white head. Grain aroma with a hint of smoky mesquite malt. Smooth smoky malt taste that come bursting out in the taste.

The second you open the bottle the smoke hits you in the face like a ton of bricks, and continues from the first taste. It is an overwhelming smokey flavor, which suprisingly does not linger on the palate and overall makes for a smooth finish. The smoke taste is hard to look past, but overall a smooth finishing beer. Would not have it again.

Bottle from BevMo. Pours darkish gold with a 4-finger off-white head. that did some laceing. Aroma of pale lager with a hint of bacon. Medium minus body with mild carbonation. Flavor is smokey like bacon. It’s a rather mild smoke, but, hey, it’s a summer beer. A good smoked lager. Finishes mildly smoked. Tasty.

Pours a nice golden color with a big white head which tightens up considerably but never really goes away. Aroma is a nice honey maltiness with just a touch of corn and a touch of smoke. Flavor is nicely smoky on the front of the tongue tastes like bacon at my grandparent’s house, that is to say that it is not the finest bacon around but it is bacon and it is damn tasty none the less. If that is corn adjunct in the nose, I don’t get a hell of a lot of it in the flavor; instead there is some sweet maltiness that blends well with the smokiness to add to the sweet on smoky flavor. From what I’ve read a lot of people have trouble with this beer because the smoke fades quickly from the flavor, but I kind of like how it is smoky up front but with just a little noble hop zing after the smoke flavor has subsided. It’s not the best smoke beer I’ve had but it’s one of the better Shiner beers I’ve had. I certainly enjoy this one.

I have enjoyed drinking this beer all summer long. Beer pours honey golden in color with a nice egg white, totally retained head. Aroma is quite thouroughly smoky with just a bit of graininess underneath. Flavor is lightly sweet with lots of good smoke flavor. This beer is easy to drink and has a nice flavor profile. I like it.
