Very soft smoke flavor, much less than I would have liked, although in the early going it was discernibly mesquite-y. Standard Shiner composition in all other respects. Drinkable and at least a bit more interesting than regular Shiner, though that isn’t saying much. Bottle.

Pours pale golden with a touch of orange. Very little head brings a the strong aroma of sweet and smokey malt. I am always up for something different and this meets the bill and why my overall score grants it some extra points. Lacks any real complexity other than the smoke flavor.

With much regret I write this rating. I drink a lot of Shiner, but I won’t be with this one. I love mesquite wood for barbequing, but roasting the malt with it doesn’t do it for me. It oured a weak, small white head that faded immediately. The mesquite overpowers any other taste and is a taste unworthy of the Shiner name. No aftertaste, thankfully, and leaves you giving it away to the guy already to sauced to care.

bottle consumed 8/18/09. pours brilliantly clear and a mix of orange-yellow with copper. the white head is short lived, aggressive and spritzy. smells of faint mesquite smoke along with its sweetness, grain, spice and some sort of fruit. the palate is just slightly sweet and contains something (hops?) which mildly numbs the tongue. flavors of lemon, yeast, grain and light smooth smoke.... it is not harsh, sour or acrid at all. pleasant, really. a crisp clean finish before the faint smokiness stays long into the aftertaste. i don’t know that i would classify this as a ’smoked’. it feels like a pale lager which just happens to have some smoked malts in the recipe... i think i like that! the body is light-medium. the mouth feel is crisp, prickly and easy drinking. the smoke combined with the texture make this a good fit with food! 6/3/6/3/13/3.1

Courtesy of KAggie97, thanks. Pours golden with a very thin head that disapates almost immediatly. Tastes like a standard Heeled-style beer, very light with a distinct malt flavor. Overall pretty good for what it is.. a beer that you can enjoy more than four of in a sitting.

Thanks Cavie for sending. Pours a pale soft gold with a one finger frothy offwhite head. The nose is grassy, mild bready sweetness, lite meaty smoke character. Flavor is meaty, has a lite sweetness, very soft hop character, hay, smoke. Palate is softly carbonated with very little bite of any kind.

It took a lot to even finish a bottle of this one. Completely overdone on the smoke flavor. This is a lot like what I think drinking a bottle of liquid smoke would taste like.

Pours a clear gold color with a small white head. Aroma of smokey malts. Flavor matches the aroma with a very metallic finish. The wife did not like this at all "Should not be tasting meat in a beer." Not bad, but definately not my style.
