Pumpkin nose. Sweet pumpkin start ends with a medium finish. Cloying pumpkin pie taste. Not too bad. Skyview (2803), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Sep 9, 2007 Updated: Aug 24, 2008On draught at the Shipwrecked brewpub in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. Pours a clear old copper penny amber brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that has excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of spicey holiday pourpori, nutmeg, cloves and some dry flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with a dry multi-grain malt and plenty of dry herbal spice and vegetables. Finish is very dry with a mild and lingering bitterness. One of the most dry pumpkin ales I’ve tried.
2008 Vintage: The Shipwrecked Brewpub has a new brewmaster who may have changed this recipe. Pours a clear pale amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head. Aroma of golden grain malt with some light pumpkin and nutmeg. Taste is light bodied, more carbonation than the 2007 vintage with a light caramel and pumpkin with nutmeg flavor. Finish is very watery with a light metallic nutmeg and pumpkin aftertaste that quickly disappears. Disappointing compared to last year’s batch but willing to try again in 2009. Ughsmash (2985), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 19, 2007 On tap at Shipwrecked. Poured a clear ambery caramel with pretty much zero head. Aroma picked up nutmeg and some pumpkin spice with perhaps a touch of caramel.. no pumpkin meat noted.. sweet overall.. non-offensive, but non-good. Flavor had a big smack of nutmeg and pumpkin spice with very little malt backing.. dry herbal and medicinal notes on the back-end with a tacky spice finish.. not very good. Watery on the palate with the sticky spices. Among other things, this beer needs malt. robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Feb 21, 2007 Orange/Gold Coloring with Creamy Head. Pumpkin and Nutmeg Aroma. Frothy Creamy Mouthfeel...Spiced Notes, Sweet Caramel Malt...Dry Aftertaste...Lingering Pumpkin Spice Notes... Nice Fall Brew.
