Wheat ales are not my favorite style, but I found this one very easy to drink. Not at all bitter and very smooth. Shipyard makes some decent beers - this one is not not expectional, but well worth trying. da845 (139), new york, New York, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2004 I’m enjoying General Cleburne in a bottle, I bet he would be happy to know 135 years later he commemorated as a beer. Nice copper body with a frothy white head. A sweet malty aroma, notes of peach and honey, a nice lemon or sour orange zestyness in the finish. Good use of hops in this simplistic but refreshing brew, one of the better American wheat. elsberry (87), North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2004 A solid copper color with a thick white head that it holds for some time. A sweet smell, with a slight hint of citrus. Smooth, but much more of an pale ale than a wheat. A simple beer, but one that is pulled together well, and finishes smoothly with a slight hint of lemon. kimcgolf (832), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Poured from the bottle to a clear, bright, golden color with an excessive amount of foam, almost half a glass, that generally dissipates to leave good lacing on the glass. Aroma was perfumy and grassy, with a hint of dough, but none of the spiciness I would expect. Flavor was hoppy and grassy, and mouthfeel was slightly tingly, all leading to a medium, slightly sour finish.
Not bad for a novelty beer, but hardly resembled a wheat..

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2005 This is a wheat? Seriously? almost completely lacking in any wheat character at all. But what does that matter when your drinking out of collectable bottle adorned with your favorite Civil War general? Pours orange with flaoties, with a sizey white head. Faint aroma, with maybe a hint of vanilla. Flavor is beery, with a faint citrus note. Now, I’ll trade you a Burnsides for a Stuart... Ungstrup (15231), Frederiksberg, Denmark

The aroma has powerful notes of honey with the malt hiding in the background. The flavor is sweet honey combined with malt - the honey also brings with it notes of bees wax, and rosehips, and makes it a bit sticky in the mouth. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

honoring General Jackson, clear golden, whispy off white head, sweet carmel malt aroma, rich carmel malt flavor with a good amount of floral hop flavor and a long bitter finish, a lot more character than I was expecting from bottles with different generals on each label
