Pale smell and taste, some bitterness, pours black with brown head, medium carbonation, a disappointment I was hoping for more

(Bottle at Delirium Cafe in Gothenburg) Black color, brown head. Sweet chocolate mixed with coffee scent. Sour and bitter taste, not much else. High sharp bitterness.

Bottle from Shipyard’s Captain’s Collection. Pours a thick black with a tan head. Dark scents of coffee, chocolate. Good taste, but a but full in the mouth. A nice beer.

Poured black as night with a thick beige/tan head that slowly disappeared. Left a thin head that remained the entire course or the beer. Smelled of toffee, coffee, and chocolate. Tastes match the smells, with a bitterness rounding it out. Nice creamy feel with fine carbonation. Good stout, not too sweet, not too chocolatey

On tap @ Mellow Mushroom. Black color with solid tan head that will not go away. Rich roasted chocolate malt and coffee aroma. Inviting. Flavor is toffee, coffee, chocolate and a bit of black patent malts. The finish is a nice coffee and chocolate flavor that is not too dry at all.

12 oz bottle, via porterhouse. Pours a dark black colored body under a small chocolate brown head that faded to a thin covering. Aroma reeks of diacetyl with a little roast beneath, but hard to pick out. Flavor has minimal diacetyl at first thankfully, but I really don’t care for any personally. The malt is very roasty and almost a little smoky. As it warmed more diacetyl came out as well with the smoke. Mouthfeel is thin and slightly oily in texture with lots of fizzy carbonation. Overall, this would be decent were it not for all the diacetyl.

Black body with a dark khaki colored head. The aroma has some molasses, chocolate and sweetened coffee. There was also some pecans. The taste has rich coffee with some dry dark chocolate. The finish is clean because of the dry character. The body is medium and this benefits from a litle warmth. A good, but not extraordinary dry stout. I tried this again and had the same rating.

Certainly a middle-of-the-road stout for me. Lightly charred woody nose, slight milk in the flavor, but mostly dominated by a subdued, almost numbing roasted oat flavor. Decent enough, but pretty forgettable.
