(22oz bottle) Purchased at Downeast Beverages in Portland, Maine, on August 1, 2005. Pours a huge (3/4 glass) light brown, frothy head with a mildly carbonated, opaque body. Nose of roasted malt and molasses. Fizzy flavours of deep roasted malt. Thin finish. I have to agree with kfarrnd below that this is too carbonated and the flavour doesn’t show its potential.

Bottle -- Good black color with a thin head. But taste was far too light and overally carbonated on the palate. Definitely hints of coffee but not enough richness.

On tap at Federal Jacks. Pours a deep black color with a thin creamy light brown head. Weak lactic aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Ordinary flavor of coffee and roasted malt. Light to medium body with a dry mouthfeel and soft carbonation.

Bottle--Poured a nice black color with a foamy tan head. Good thick taste on the tongue. Smell of chocolate, though I wished the aroma was stronger. Good beer.

i was excited to see this in the store, because these guys make some pretty damn good beers. pours out dark black. smells strongly of coffee and chocolate. taste is thick, rich, creamy, and tastes almost like a glass of coffee. finish is pretty dry. all in all, a very good dry stout that could be enjoyed with a large amount of chocolate. might end up going and buying more of these in a few days. damn nice.

Pours a dark brown with promising tan head. Aroma is creamy toasted malts and cocoa. This is an excellent stout. Shipyard hit one out of the ballpark on this offering. Perfectly balanced bitter with very smooth dark malts and coffee undertones. Nice.

I loved this Stout. It had such a great flavor and full of life. A big cramy head on this beer. A great beer for a nice dinner.
