Pours a huge (3/4 glass) light brown, frothy head with a mildly carbonated, opaque body. Nose of roasted malt and molasses. Fizzy flavours of deep roasted malt. Thin finish. I have to agree with kfarrnd below that this is too carbonated and the flavour doesn’t show its potential. kfarrnd (112), Oldsmar, Florida, USA

But taste was far too light and overally carbonated on the palate. Definitely hints of coffee but not enough richness. beerbuzzmontreal (2916), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 18, 2005 Pours a dark brown with promising tan head. Aroma is creamy toasted malts and cocoa. This is an excellent stout. Shipyard hit one out of the ballpark on this offering. Perfectly balanced bitter with very smooth dark malts and coffee undertones. Nice.
