Bottle. Brown colour with a beige head. Aroma: malty, sweet, toffee, caramel, a bit of diacetyl. Flavor: malty, sweet, caramel, toffee, diacetyl, butter, lightly roasted, some fruity yeastiness (banana?), light bitterness. Too sweet, buttery and not very fresh. Re-rated 091002.

Bottle… O’sS&BS-I-T-YVBThrowdown… Dark, burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Cocoa really stands out in the aroma. Medium-bodied and slightly creamy with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is mildly nutty and leans on the bitter side of balance. The finish is crisp and moderately bitter. Kudos to whoever brought this beer to the Throwdown!

12 oz bottle purchased at Shaw’s supermarket. $9.49 a six pack. Pours a clear brown color with a 1/2" beige head. Aroma is nuts, malt and caramel. Flavor is nuts with a sweet caramel/malty background. Just a little bit smoky. Just a hint of chocolate. Pretty good beer, glad they brought it back.

Well apparently this is not retired because I got a sixer of this at a pretty new liquor store pretty recently. Cloudy brown color with beige head. Aroma is really malty with dark fruit notes in it. Taste is pretty much what you would expect from the smell. Malty with caramel and subtle chocolate undertones.

Bottle pours a murky, dark brownish red color with a tan head. Musty, sweet caramel malt aroma. Dusty, earthy, smoky, flavors with a fair amount of bitterness in the finish.

From bottle. Nice mahogany colour with a thin head. Smooth syrupy texture. Earthy with hints of oak aged barrels. Smooth and sweet and not really on the bitter side but still very enjoyable.

Found this today in NH - it has apparently been brought out of retirement for a limited time only. From a 12 oz bottle this poured reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma was definitely malty with lots of dark fruits/raisin and toffee. Taste was primarily raisin with same malty follow up as well as some caramel and toffe. Different than some of the other brown ales I have had recently - good brew. Not overly carbonated like some brown ales tend to be.
