Bottled, Poured dark brown with an off-white head. I thought it stood up well against other Brown Ales I’ve had, and I would certainly drink it again.

A dark brown body rests under a foamy off-white head. Aroma of Heath bar, some grassy hops, hints of chocolate. Medium body with some substance in texture. The flavor was lightly sweet, nutty, buttery. Not a bad brew but questionable as a brewer’s choice. Unless there wasn’t much else to choose from.

2006 version in bottle. Brown color, with fizzy head. Has aroma of rice malt, and water. Flavor is dissapointing. Almost flavorless, weak malt flavor. Watery finish.

(Draught) On tap at the Great Lost Bear in Portland, ME. Dissipated white head with a deep brown body. Nose is very roasty and somewhat peanut butter. Flavour is solid roast coffee, caramel with a thin, linguring toffee. Good.

Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour with a light off white head. Aroma has hints of chocolate and some caramel. Flavor has a lot going on. Root beer hard candy, horehand candy, caramel, chocolate and licorice. Very full bodied and flavorful. Mouthfeel is thickish and clean, with just the right amount of carbonation. Overall, excellent - probably the best from Shipyard yet.

12oz bottle. Clear mostly dar brown color. Mildly sweet, mildly lactic nose. Flavor has some butter toffee and scotch notes, oak as well. A bit boring but not offensive.

Aroma is smooth nutty maltness. The pour is a nice dark brown with a beige head that stay around for a while. Tast is very smooth with roasted malt with a pleasant nutty flavor. Light bitter hop finish with full maltiness. Later in the some of the roasted qualities have a bit of a coffee flavor. A very nice beer.

This was the last review before Sean set off for Scotland for two weeks, and the 2 Beer Guys will be on a review hiatus until his return. This ale pours a deep red color with a fizzy head. Good lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma’s are of sweet smelling malts, along the lines of a cookie. Initial taste is sweet, finishing lightly bitter. Strong carbonation on the mouth with a watery initial finish that turns dry after a while.
