| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2007 In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours black with mahogany highlites. Has a thick dense beige head. Presents the aroma of a freshly baking chocolate cake. Big honey finish to the nose. The flavor is a big chocolate malted lactose milk sugar surprise. The honey flavor becomes dominant as the beer warms. There’s a mild coffee roastedness on the tongue during the mid-palate. This is a thick and delightful brew. I’d certainly drink this again. Perhaps I am rediscovering my love of porters? canary dog (443), Rutland, Vermont, USA
