| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 2, 2008 Bottled. Pours out in a clear amber colour with a frothy white foam. Flat and rather lifeless aroma of earth, metal, grass and butter. Medium-bodied with notes of nuts, earth, metal and butter. Sharp and unclean mouthfeel. Earthy finish with undertones of metal and apricots. An unrefined and dull IPA from Shipyard. mcox90 (646), Wilton, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2008 12 oz bottle from the Captains Collection 12 pack. Pours a yellow, amber straw color with a 1/2" white head and spotty lacing. Nose is pine needle & flowers. I enjoyed this IPA because the hop bite isn’t as sharp as a lot of IPA’s. The hops are more subdued with an earthy background. Even a little sweet. A little higher abv than most Shipyard brews. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Glorious amber in appearance with a nice white head. Ringwood butterscotch aroma with floral and grassy hops. Light but lively in the mouth. Not a bad quaff - lots of toffee flavor and herbal hops. hopscotch (5501), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Bottle... Clear copper ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Everlasting, creamy retention. The fruity, earthy aroma tenders notes of must, wood, resin and citrus fruit. Medium-bodied with prickly carbonation. Toffee, beefy flavors deliver earthy and citric hop bitterness with low residual sweetness. Lengthy, bitter, lightly acidic finish that ends up bone-dry jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Clear copper pour with a nice sized sandy head. Sweet caramel malt, light breadiness, and a lively floral hoppiness in the tail. Crisply carbonated up front into a smoother maltiness with lingering florals. Thanks to The Eppeist for this bonus brew. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA

Clear amber with a thin eggshell head. Earthy, malty nose, very sweet caramel - malt smells a bit off, somehow. Some sweet floral notes, nutty malt. Dry, earthy flavor, floral is more pronounced than in the nose. Not great, but drinkable.
