| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours Hazy golden orange, off white head. Aroma is malted hoppy graham crackers. I guess this one could go either way at this point. The aroma is not crisp and citrusy so it leads me to believe that there could be peat on the horizon.
Flavor is bitter and malty, some wet bog and metal going on here. This isn’t super peaty, but I’m not giving my stamp of approval. So there ;) fonefan (11891), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Bottle pours a honey amber color with a dense foamy tan head. Some lacing along the glass. Fairly subdued aroma, slightly sweet and malty with a faint hint of hops. Similar to the aroma the initial flavor has more caramel malt presence than hops. As it begins to warms the hops begin to come through a little more. Some bitterness in the finish. Similar to the standard Shipyard IPA in that this reminds me more of a Bitter than an IPA. Goes well down. smjohnst (203), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Was really anxious to try this but was not impressed. It was surprising how watered down it tasted for how high the alcohol content is. Just wasn’t much to it. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Tampa, Fl. - Total Wines 12 oz bottle. Bright, medium copper pour with a sticky off-white head that leaves behind a nice coat of lacing. Slightly sprucey aroma with hints of spice and vanilla. Flavor has some hoppy grapefruity citrus notes, some malt presence is felt with some maple syrup notes, some spicy notes, and some subtle bitterness more akin to a British bitter than a west coast American IPA. Clean even mouthfeel. This would make a good session ale if not for the high abv (relatively speaking).
