A rather unusual beer. Beautiful mahogany colour with a reddish tinge. Very woody and slightly sweet at the same time. Some roasted malt notes in the flavour. I thought this was interesting and rather good. Bottled at the London Joet gathering, January 2005.

(Bottled) Dark amber color with a smallish, lacy head. Buttery, slightly metallic sour and sweet-malty aroma. Softly aromatic-hoppy and toffeeish flavor with underlying bitterness. Light to medium-bodied, acidic palate with balanced carbonation. A plain, but decent ale.

12 oz bottle. Creamy off-white vanilla soda head tops a clear maple body...hazelnuts, almonds, caramel in the vanilla and perhaps a hint of diacetyl and milky sourness....thin, watery body, bitter and a bit astringent late though thick nuttiness is pleasant...undone in the last by lactic/vinegary qualities.

Brown in colour. Mild malt aroma with a sweet malty flavour. Medium bodied, and easy drinking. Not bad.

Bottle. Quite a sweet, grainy brown ale. Some caramel/chocolate. Not too many flavours pop out, its just pretty easy to drink brown ale.

Bottle at Chris’ - thanks to joet for bringing it. Very average lightly malty mellow brown ale. Nice to try something like this.

[12 oz. bottle] Pours a clear reddish color with a fizzy tan head. Aroma is rather malty with a sweet backbone and the finish is rather sweet, possibly a hint of caramel? Smooth flavor with a sweet malty beginning which goes to a nice, sweet and smooth caramel/chocolate middle and a slightly bitter but still pleasantly sweet finish. Leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste. Not a bad brown ale.

One of a series of brown ales that I’ve picked up due to it being a portion of a mixed 12pk. Not bad, no.... but not being a brown ale fan there’s just not a lot that I can add to saying much more than thinking this wasn’t bad, but neither did it stand far apart from any other brown ale I’ve ever had.
