georgekillian (184), USA Oct 20, 2007 if i could get this beer on the east coast i would buy this one everyday. it is a wonderful beer that is full of flavor and is the best thing since sliced bread and fish chips!!! wonderful addition to the shipyard family Schultsc (478), Henderson, Nevada, USA Oct 16, 2007 Updated: Sep 11, 2008Pours a clear medium amber-gold with a medium light tan head. The aroma conveys lots of crisp, toasted grain aromatices with some herbal and spicy hops notes. The flavor is quite dry with nice grain astringency and English hops flavors of earth and fruit. Body is light and easy-going and conveys its flavors well across the palate and into the finish. Finely structured and interesting study of english grain characteristics with a pleasant hops supplement. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Oct 13, 2007 Updated: May 26, 2009Appearance: Light, clear brown body with a small, fizzy ivory-colored head.
Smell: Ringwood aroma with light, buttery notes. Faint caramel. Herbal hop character.
Taste: Light caramel maltiness with a hint of butter. The hops impart flavors of citrus and herbs. Mild, lingering bitterness emphasized by the prickly carbonation on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation.
Drinkability: Union General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain was a badass. This beer, not so much. LadySusan (462), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada Oct 11, 2007 The color is amber with a nice beige head with some lace.. The aroma is sweet and fruity and very light. The taste is hoppy and fruity and just the right amount of bitterness. Imaena (259), Portland, Maine, USA Oct 7, 2007 Bottle: My favorite out of the Ship Yard standard line. Not enough on the hoppiness for my tastes but a good offering overall. Its beter than sierra nevada. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Oct 7, 2007 Bottle. Creamy malt and orange peel aroma with a hint of hops. Medium amber with small head. Slightly sour barley malt flavor with light hops finish. Toasted malt aftertaste. A nice beer but it would really take a 5/5 beer to live up to the legacy of Colonel Chamberlain and his 20th Maine boys. mrant (330), New York, USA Sep 30, 2007 Smells delicate and floral, some sour hops. Pours a clear bubbly golden amber color with a generous off white head. Taste is crisp, slightly metallic, well balanced hops and malts. A very good pale ale.
