WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 12, 2006 What an odd beer. This one turned into lambic. Nose of yeast and rot, taste of sour citrus, yeast, and malt, with some floral overtones. Definitely the most complex of the Shipyards, and actually quite interesting, but I don’t think it was meant to turn into a lambic! Poours a beautiful gold with visible carbonation and a huge frothy head that slowly reduces, leaving great lacing. I have to downgrade the flavor because it not a pale ale but an accidental lambic. Even has typical lambic astringent mouth. I don’t think my bottle was a one-off accident ... look at the review from STEPHENDR a couple down from mine. jrmac (210), USA Sep 20, 2006 I agree that this is the best beer in the shipyard line up. It is an excellent PA that really puts most of my locals to shame. Hard to find. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Sep 17, 2006 Clear color of gold – white head frothy but , short - nose of yeast , cobwebs , apricots , tar , and sour red berries – taste of yeast, dried apricots , cinnamon , and citrus – light bubbly body – sweet yeast aftertaste bitter apricots slightly acidic ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Aug 27, 2006 Bomber poured a clear golden amber with a large lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of carmel, bread, light citrus and some hints of pine. Palate was light bodied. Flavors of carmel, straw and light lemon with a crisp lightly bitter finish. Naven (864), Poway, California, USA Aug 26, 2006 Weak, weak, weak. Im actually suprised that this beer is rated as high as it is. No real aroma, color or flavors here. Pretty much a boring, lightly hopped seltzer water with some coloring added. Dear hop heads.....avoid this one like the plague. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 3, 2006 Nose is sweet and hoppy with some caramel malts; Light amber color with a small off-white head; flavor of hops, caramel malts, and a nice hop finish. There is a tiny diacetyl hint in the background, but not enough to affect the flavor. calivania (62), USA Aug 2, 2006 Nice. Rich and chewy. Has the freshness of spring and the thoughtfulness of autum. Just enough of everything -- malts, hop, even attitude. ruggedman (613), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 13, 2006 Updated: Jan 11, 2009Pours a nice golden amber with a foamy white to off white head. Aroma is just great, mostly floral and piney notes very hoppy smelling. The taste backs up the scent quite well also. No bad tastes anywhere in this beer, just a good pale in an almost West Coast fashion.
