Commercial Description:
The classic English style of Chamberlain Pale Ale is enhanced by its golden copper hue and creamy white head. It is dry and crisp with an aromatic hoppy finish. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: Civil war hero. Medal of honor winner. Maine governor. President of Bowdoin College. The Chamberlain Pale Ale was created by the Shipyard Brewing Company to commemorate the extraodinary life of "the man from Maine."

Bottle - courtesy of matta! Clear amber body with a rigid tan head. It seems "glued" to the beer and is leaving no lace as I swirl it around the glass. Aroma is slightly nutty and malty with light caramel notes and spicy hops. Taste leans heavily on the hops and backed up with lighter caramel, some earthy notes, dried nuts, and toasty malts. Body is medium and mildly carbonated. Pleasant feel on the palate. Finishes with spicy hops, light sweet maltiness, caramel, and dried nuts. Not bad at all!

Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. Aroma is weak with hints of malt and caramel. Light - Medium body, with malt and caramel flavorings, and a tinge of hops in the finish.

This pours a dark amber/gold with a medium-sized, off white head. The nose is primarily woody. The initial taste is slightly nutty and sweet with hints of caramel and perhaps bubblegum. The middle is, perhaps, a bit yeasty but it retains some sweetness. The bitterness in the trail is medium and the sweetness is light. The mouthfeel is rather thin.

Coppr brown, small off-white head. Nose has fruity hops and also yeasty notes. Mildly hoppy, medium-bodied. A bit sweet, English-type session ale.

22 oz 2005 bottle shared with Muzzlehatch on 5/22/2005. Smells of nutty/earthy English hops, some bitterness, light caramel. Blonde with some orange tinges, clear, filtered body with a fizzy white head receding to nothing, no lacing. Flavor is lightly malty (pale/base malts), bits of grain, some minor hops bitterness, no real hops flavor. Maybe some metal on the end. Tastes a lot like water, feels like water. Forced carbonation, heavily filtered, horribly bland, not much beer left in this. Maybe some light citrus. Got the old "this beer sucks" in the notes. Light body.
