Smells of lilac and light honey crackers with some potting soil. Taste is light toast in the front and macro-ashtray nastiness to finish. Weird beer. Don’t hate, but can’t like it either. Sorry Shipyard. 2009 22 oz.

33cl bottle from GBBF 09, Well this isn’t too interesting. Some toasty notes, some caramel. Pretty empty on the finish too. Probably some diacetyl as well. Not really any hop either. In an English style? Well if you wanted to make a beer with diacetyl and not much flavour then yes, it is in an English style.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is diacetyl and some grass along with malts. Flavour is very much boring. Very boring.

Pours copper with full tan head. The aroma is muted malts mixing with spicy to earthy hops. The taste is malty with a layer of caramel to start before spicy hops and a dash of citrus acidity like bitterness come to the surface. By midway mild earthiness, spicy and floral hops all sort of over running the malts in a mild mannered way. It ends with a slight hop tingle, a mild bit of roast and a memory of malt sweetness.

Bottle. Poured with a small, off-white head, that diminished to hardly anything at all. Body was mostly clear and sparkling, with a slight haze, and a beautiful dark-orange color. No real lacing to speak of. Aroma wasn’t anything special... lightly hoppy. Nice on the palate, with a light to medium body, slightly oily, and lively carbonation. Very nice flavor that starts off bitter and acidic, and finishes off... bitter, of course, but heavier hops than would have been expected. Overall, a very nice pale ale that I would easily drink again.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is hoppy but quite sweet, with honyish notes. Flavor is rather watery with some sweet malts to finish. Not a particularly good beer. A disappointment.
