Really pleasant aroma of caramel and melanoidin with a US hops undertone and a hint of tobacco/raisin. Clear copper with bubbly ring and just some wispy white lace on top. Flavour begins a bit bland and soda watery but blossoms into a British tasting toffee and raisin with only a hint of hops flavour and a moderate bitterness. Also subtle dried fruits. A little bit of mouth coating buttery diacetyl, but not so much to detract from the quality of this brew. Really nice flavour, if a bit weak. Light to medium body with medium carbonation DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

While not sticking out above the ever growing crowd, it has enough to recommend it as a pint or bottle to try. boFNjackson (1315), Portland, Oregon, USA

Soapy hops up front with a caramel-malt balance, kind of a grainy, bread-like presence as well which gives it some depth. This pale ale is hoppier than their IPA. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 12, 2006 What an odd beer. This one turned into lambic. Nose of yeast and rot, taste of sour citrus, yeast, and malt, with some floral overtones. Definitely the most complex of the Shipyards, and actually quite interesting, but I don’t think it was meant to turn into a lambic! Poours a beautiful gold with visible carbonation and a huge frothy head that slowly reduces, leaving great lacing. I have to downgrade the flavor because it not a pale ale but an accidental lambic. Even has typical lambic astringent mouth. I don’t think my bottle was a one-off accident ... look at the review from STEPHENDR a couple down from mine. SaintMatty (1236), Tallinn, Estonia
