| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 30, 2004 Ok, so IMO, Shipyard brews a great Longfellow Ale, the Old Thumper, BlueFin Stout, and the Fuggles IPA are solid and above average…. Other than that I’ve always thought that the Shipyard beers are a step above Sam Adams but nothing very exciting. Then tonight I had a bomber of this Chamberlains Pale Ale…. F-ing Loved It!
This is a English Style PA with a nip of American hop addition… really nice work! Pours copper body with a thick ivory head. The aroma is a woodsy earthy citric hop and a note of brown sugar & caramel. A toasty malt likeness and somewhat biscuity… palate was rich and lush…. Chamberlain takes second, under Longfellow, in my lineup of Shipyard brews… truly impressed with this English PA!
I will have NO trouble talking this beer up to my accounts!
