Hmmm, pretty boring beer but not bad for the style. Copper pour. Aromas of crackers, caramel malt and hops. Flavor is pretty light. Some light caramel malt and hops.

Bottle. Creamy malt and orange peel aroma with a hint of hops. Medium amber with small head. Slightly sour barley malt flavor with light hops finish. Toasted malt aftertaste. A nice beer but it would really take a 5/5 beer to live up to the legacy of Colonel Chamberlain and his 20th Maine boys.

(Rating #2779)

Amber-orange hue. Light- to medium-bodied. Little nip of noticeable alcohol. Grainy malts with very little sweetness. Notes of toasted bread and burnt caramel. Spicy, tea-like hops, with elements of bitter flowers. Other notes of metal, pear, lemon grass and light tobacco. Piques the curiosity.

Clear amber, big cream coloured haed with excellent retention, leaving chunky lace down the glass. Interesting aroma, almost perfumey, ginger spice, caramel, and subtle stone fruits. Full-bodied malt-forward palate with a moderately resinous hop finish. I really liked this one as a bit of a different take on a style that often comes across as a dumbed-down cascade-laden IPA.

Pours copper with full tan head. The aroma is muted malts mixing with spicy to earthy hops. The taste is malty with a layer of caramel to start before spicy hops and a dash of citrus acidity like bitterness come to the surface. By midway mild earthiness, spicy and floral hops all sort of over running the malts in a mild mannered way. It ends with a slight hop tingle, a mild bit of roast and a memory of malt sweetness.

Copper, big sloppy white head. Big caramel nose, with caramel and toffee flavors, as well. Some crisp, resiny notes in the finish. Nice session ale.
