Flavor isn’t too hoppy-- slightly bitter with a nice smooth finish. Good pale ale. RHeastings (411), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a medium to medium-light amber color, too light for a traditional English pale ale. The nose is hard to get a handle on, in large part because it is covered by a beautifully creamy white head. Some malt comes through, of the medium crystal variety. In terms of taste, either Shipyard’s hopping regimen is very light, or my sample had been extensively aged, as there was, at best, a balancing bitterness, without any decernable varietal hop character. However, malt character was pronounced and pleasing, showing a nice combination of slightly cooked caramel and toffee, with perhaps just the slightest hint of raison. The finish had a decent amount of residual sweetness that seemed to help round out the beer. Overall, a nice session beer, but lacking in overall malt/hop balance. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Smells delicate and floral, some sour hops. Pours a clear bubbly golden amber color with a generous off white head. Taste is crisp, slightly metallic, well balanced hops and malts. A very good pale ale. Sparky27 (1596), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a medium gold with 2 finger fluffy white head and clumpy spotty lacing. Nose is malt, bread and a touch of citrus hops. Taste pretty much follows suit with the aroma. There’s a bit more citrus hop in the finish than the nose lets on. Medium mouth feel. Not terrible.
