| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 31, 2004 Bottle - Amber in color with a quickly fading white head. Yeasty aroma with little hops. Flavor has a butterscotch/diacetyl undertone that is pleasent enough. Kinda watery with too few hops in the flavor and finish. Not one of Shipyard’s best efforts. Re-rate 7/2/04 don't buy this again if you can remember. kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 2, 2004 Sweet malt and buttery diacetyl in the aroma. Clear copper coloured with thin white head that recedes to ring with very thin cover. Sweet and malty with a decent lasting bitterness with diacetyl also prominent in the flavour. Smooth, somewhat slick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Bitterness mitigates the butteriness somewhat but the diacetyl becomes overpowering as it warms. Bottle. sfontain (506), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 20, 2004 I had very low hops for this, but it actually exceeded my expectations. Pours light amber with a nearly nonexistant head and very few bubbles. Aroma is very yeasty following the pour and tapers off to floral and hoppy with a bit of toffee. Flavor is malty and sharply sweet, also with some caramel flavor. Feels fairly light and clean. Upon my first sip, I figured this would be classified as an APA, but as I drank more, it probably wouldn't make a great APA. As a "blond ale," though, this stuff isn't too bad. zach8270 (2131), Henrietta, New York, USA

Floral and hoppy aroma mixed with a slight hint of grass. Flavor is an initial malt taste followed up by a bitter hoppy bite and a slightly dry malt finish. Bitter aftertaste and very watery. It's a shame because most people try this Shipyard before they try other Shipyards. In my opinion, many of the other Shipyards are more interesting than the export ale.
