Hazy brown head, rocky foam. Taste shows that this is a medium-strength, basic English type IPA, no extra bells or whistles. "Best by" squares on label were not punched, but this seems reasonably fresh. Hop character becomes more resolute after a few sips. It is a bit earthy, even woody, with light peppercorn and a hint of pine. Malt is a good base to build on, not much more, with caramel and toast involved. Good basic style IPA. I’d love to try several single hop beers at one time to train my palate. mesperon (139), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA

You’d expect the hops to e showcased and overpowering. Hope taste is floral, slightly sweet, with a slight citrus edge, but a mellow taste. Mouthfeel is one notch above thin. NOt much of a finish, but no bad aftertaste. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear dark gold with a thin white head. Light body and medium carbonation. Aroma and taste of fruit, toffee and citrus. Dry finish. Hinez57 (129), Clinton, Mississippi, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 13, 2008 Wonderful spicey, earthy, slightly fruity, and caramel aroma. Nice white head and beautiful orange hue, very nice lacing. Some light malt character noticable, but needs more, it’s really lacking. Well hopped for flavor and bittering. Nice mouthfeel, lively but not watered down. Overall a very enjoyable bier. It’s not going to impress a real hophead. Barely in style for an English IPA. If this were marked as a Pale Ale, it would be my fav. pale ale. I am rating it higher than it deserves for style, but I enjoy the Fuggle hops so much, it’s very well crafted in that respect. ucusty (1900), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jun 13, 2008 This beer pours a light amber/orange with a medium white head leaving a little lacing down the sides. aroma is old grass and earth. flavor is almost the same, but there is something in there I cannot get. Very unbalanced beer. almost like a bad old ale if you ask me. on the palate is quite dry, which I like though. Cheers!
