Strong hop notes too. This beer tastes like a 50/50 split between malt and hop flavor and aroma, perfectly down the middle. ITs more malty than you would expect from an IPA because the hops don’t dominate due to it being a single IPA. OK lacing. Head defaltes quick and the finish is a little heavy. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 14, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz. (US bottle with an expiration date of July 2008. A nice amber pour. Smells more malty than hoppy. The fruity, apple taste is evident but the hops don’t seem to be. It’s not what I would define as an IPA. It’s too fruity. Maybe it’s meant to be a milder IPA. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Bottle from Duvel tulip @ cellar temp. Best before April ’08. Clear orange body; rocky white head, left a nice island and fair lacing. Aroma is all hops, of an earthy quality, but not very strong. Body is light and texture is thin but a slight oiliness saves it. Carbonation is far weaker than expected, considering the rising bubbles. Flavor is quite bitter, especially up front, with a sweetness in the back. Finishes very bitter and dry. Not bad, but not exciting either, just average. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA

ABV: 5.5%
IBU:
Volume: 12 oz
Glass: tapered pint
Purchased at: Sherwood Liquors
Consumed on: February 27th, 2008, 9:47 pm
first impression: Overactive head - took a few minutes to pour. Died down quickly to nothing. Aroma is outstanding and deep. Color is hazy and orange, slightly active.
Aroma/Olfactory:
Malt not very present. Really rather watery for an IPA.
Hops give a hint of orange but little else. The hops are there but very much in the background.
Yeast/Bacteria are present, but not very characteristic of anything. It’s kind of bland.
I’m really not very impressed with this ale. There is a slight pleasant aftertaste, but it’s generally watery.
Visuals/Appearance:
Color pale and orange.
Liquid is cloudy.
Head/Lace is lame and fleeting.
Taste/Flavor:
Sweet not at all.
Bitter in only the least sense.
Sour it’s not.
Simply like water.
Palate/Tactile:
Body/Mouthfeel is light.
Texture is thin.
Carbonation is flat
Finish is short and thankfully so.
Overall - I’ll never get this again - there’s very little point, AFAICT. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 26, 2008 12 oz bottle via Capital Market. Pours a semi clear amber with a small beige head. Nose is bready with some herbal hops. Taste starts orange, then toasted grain, lemon and some grassiness. body is medium, carbonation moderate. Seems like a cross between a east coast and an English IPA. Ok for what it is, but not for me. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Not much IPA aroma here, not like the flowery hop or pine smell I usually get with IPA. Just an off, slightly rotten, yeasty aroma. Looks somewhat like a darker ubiquitous american lager, orange but not hazy, nothing special except for a half inch creamy head. On the palate, it lacks the hoppy bite that is so prevalent in IPA, this is more like a stronger APA. Not sure if there is any apple plum in there as in the description. Though not very bitter on the commencement, the bitterness on the back of the throat continues to build thru the session. A little less oppressive compared to other IPA’s. Has a medicinal feel to it on the finish and it is a little too much for my girlie taste buds. Weird and processed, reminds me of an IPA that BMC might make.
