| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2006 Exceptional dark gold pour with a rocky head which quickly retreats. Large bubbles, formed on the bottom, ascend continuously. Not beading, per se, and I tend to think that as being very small bubbles. Aroma is metallic but also carries hints of spring and meadows, almost floral. It’s almost indistinguishable and I had to fight for much of a nose at all. Flavour is malty with a creamy mouth-feel. Hops manifest at the end. I find this tastes more like an IPA from the UK. The longer I let it sit the more the Fuggles come through. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 12, 2006 Pretty good. Could use a bit more hops. Also has some off-flavors (diacetyl). Slightly overcarbonated, too. Bosco (65), Boca Raton, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 10, 2006 Bottle. Dark golden yellow. Medium head and lace. Nice bitteness. This has become one of my common beers easily obtained at Publix Supermarkets and elswhere. Slightly dry without the complexity of a multi-hopped beer. This is a straight-forward good IPA. No doubt, hey.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Very nice pour, almost reminiscent of a red ale.... The deepest clear golden-amber into the glass, with a frothy head and decent lacing. The nose I had to strain for. Light caramel, and even lighter floral hops. The flavor is a bit unilateral for me, lacking in complexity and style. I pick up the same caramel/toffee notes (light), while only Fuggles for the hop contingency. Unfortunately, for a really good IPA, there needs to be a more complex derivative, with more grapefruit/citrus and pine notes. The strict Fuggles hop doesn’t allow for these complexities, and restricts the beer somewhat for an IPA. The body is full yet crisp, with a lingering peppery finish, really showcasing the back and side-palates. Overall, not bad... just the lack of complexity in flavor drags the rating down a bit.
