Commercial Description:
Imperial Porter is a full bodied, very dark, malty beer with a good roasted character coming from the Crystal, Chocolate and Black Patent Malts used in the mash. Warrior, English Fuggles, and East Kent Goldings Hops balance the malts with a good hop bite. The beer has an OG of 1.070, rounding out after fermentation with just a slight residual sweetness and cutting dry at the finish. 7.1% alcohol by volume.

Bottled from Systembolaget Dark brown with a large, pretty brief, beige head. Chocolate aroma with sugary notes. A bit harsh mouthfeel. Chocolate and dark toffee in the flavour. Roasted with a bit too much sugar. Late, medium bitterness.

Bottle. Poured an opaque black color with a thick, creamy, oatmeal colored head. Some lace was left behind on the glass at the end. Smelled predominantly of coffee, molasses, and dark chocolate. There were also whiffs of brown sugar, fig, peanut, and alcohol. Medium bodied and slightly sweet. The sugars were attenuated somewhat by a decent amount of roasty bitterness that lingered. I tasted coffee, toffee, and dark chocolate. Decent enough stuff.

Bottled. Light cloudy dark brown colour with rich, yet quickly diminishing foam. Dark, dry chocolate in aroma along with vague nutty notes, diacetyl and bit of sewer. Really simplistic malt composition. Flavour is chocolatey, with vague toasty notes and bit butterscotchy but not much. Finish is a bit toasty but there is enough residual sugars. Not very soft mouthfeel. Long, black malt finish, but that is just the finish. One-dimensional Imperial Porter here.

Bottled. POurs out in a hazy dark brown colour with a rich tan-coloured foam. Mild aroma of roasted malts, nuts, cocoa and brown sugar. Above medium-bodied with thich and sweet notes of molasses, roasted malts, diacetyl. and nut-shells. Dryich finish of diacetyl, roasted malts and nuts. A pretty poor example of the style from a most mediocre brewery. (Skip the Ringwood yeast!)

22 ounce bottle purchased at BevMo in Vacaville. Aroma is roasted with some sweet chocolate tones and some burnt notes, too. Of course, there is also some diacetyl butteriness in the nose, too. Moderately transparent dark brown body with a small, quickly dissipating light tan head. No lacing. Thin, roasted, lightly chocolate. More roastiness in finish. Watery and metallic. Did I mention diacetyl? Pretty terrible shit.

Bottle from Keg Liqour. Pours dark brown color with an average frothy light brown creamy head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted dark chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a complex good porter.

Aroma: Big Dark malt aroma with lots of roasted sweetness.
Appearance: Dark Brown, clear, with a thin head.
Flavor: Nice Imperial porter flavor this was strong but not over the top.
Palate: Dry Porter finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very good Imperial porter this was well brewed.

A fairly ordinary, but solid and drinkable porter. Lots of roasted malt in the aroma and flavor. Brown color, and light hops. No flaws, and drinkable enough.
