Lots of roasted malt in the aroma and flavor. Brown color, and light hops. No flaws, and drinkable enough. ghawener (963), San Salvador, El Salvador
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle: The dessert option after an IPA sampling session with ramenen. Fell short of any expectation, thin and weak, acidic and too bitter. The donuts were better. Floback (335), Naples, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2009 Bottle from Total Wine. This is a syrupy, viscous pour displaying a black colored body and no head. Strong odors of chocolate, malts, and subtle soap. Flavors are chewy with notes of oats, toffee, coffee, dark fruits, and more chocolate. The finish is rounded-out with a cocao bean bitterness. Medium carbonation and full body. Smooth, easy drinking here. A satisfying porter. danielcurtis81 (906), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep brown. Candy, roasted malt, and a touch of smoke to the nose. Flavors of sweet malt, and small hints of cotton candy. Mouth is very thin with little to no afterness. heemer77 (4309), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Black colored brew with a medium tan head on top. Coffee and molasses up front on the nose. There was also some milk chocolate covered malted milk balls. Rich coffee with some orange notes are initial tastes. The finish is fairly well roasted with some notes of peanuts. The body has a light cola character throughout each drink. Overall, a decent brew that is fairly easy to drink for the abv. Funny, I like this more than most US styled big porters I have sampled. After a while, the buttery smell and taste became more apparent, but I didn’t mind in this larger beer. There was also an ashy note that came through with more drinking, but didn’t really detract. hayduke (1659), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2009 I was really hoping for a little more from this 22 oz bottle with the gold foil cap cover. It poured black without much head and as a result not much lacing. Nose was mostly coffee, with a little chocolate and nuts. Mouthfeel was surprisingly thin for something so black. Flavor is dominated by the coffee, and there is kind of an earthy bland finish. While this is drinkable it is quite undistinguished for an imperial porter. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Black with a tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, alcohol, caramel, soy sauce, hazelnut. Taste is a watery roastiness, followed by hazelnut, light chocolate. Pretty bland. Oscbert (549), Sacramento, California, USA

~Bready and buttery scent. Also alcohol and chocolate.
~Burnt chocolate malts with espresso. Good flavor.
~Thin and oily feel. Bitter finish.
~Very enjoyable porter. Good flavor. I feel this is underated. As far as porters go this is very good.
