Nose was cookie dough, toffee and chocolate. Flavor had a touch of booze with toasted malts predominant. If I tried this up against alesmiths ’07 decadence, I probably would have thrown this bottle through the window, no comparison. TheGent (149), , Massachusetts, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Pours deep brown with a decent tan head. The nose is roasted malt, some chocolate. Flavor is coffee and astringency. Nothing Imperial about this one. Smooth mouthfeel. beerbill (1953), Laurel, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2009 22 oz. bottle shared by JoeMcPhee. So how does a beer with 7.1% abv call itself imperial? Alas, pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of diacetyl and apple. Very odd aroma for a porter. The flavor is burnt malt and some bittersweet chocolate, which is at least a bit more in line with the style. Dry at the finish. Not horrid, but not something I would look to revisit either.
