The color is a deep dark brown, the head is a slightly brownish white head.
The smell is a little coffee as well as a dark chocolate flavor.
The taste was a little strong. Bitter with coffee flavoring, some hints of dark chocolate, edgy but not strong enough to push you over.
This beer was one of the first Potters I’ve had. I wasn’t disapointed, a great even blend of flavors made this experience memorable.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 28, 2009 Bomber thanks to Marc. Poured medium cola brown with a very nice creamy cap of tan head. The aroma picked up charred darker chocolate and coffee notes upfront with toasted nutty and coconut accents.. soft overall for an "imperial" porter, but no complaints. The flavor didn’t quite hold up so well.. semi-sweet chocolate primarily at the core, but with a cheap feel to it.. some sweeter chocolates toward the edges, and a little coffee roast as well.. a little other hay-like bitterness joined the coffee.. a touch of coconut, more chocolate, and a pinch of cleanser on the finish. Medium-bodied with a scratchy feel on the palate.. never bad per se, but nothing to make me want to go back for more. bierkoning (6084), La Tropica, Netherlands
