Commercial Description:
Imperial Porter is a full bodied, very dark, malty beer with a good roasted character coming from the Crystal, Chocolate and Black Patent Malts used in the mash. Warrior, English Fuggles, and East Kent Goldings Hops balance the malts with a good hop bite. The beer has an OG of 1.070, rounding out after fermentation with just a slight residual sweetness and cutting dry at the finish. 7.1% alcohol by volume.

Bottle @ RBESG Grand Tasting 2009. Butter and milk chocolate in the aroma. Diacetyl! Roast, rancid butter and chocolate in the flavor. Still quite drinkable, in spite of the diacetyl.

Bottle from Total Wine St. Pete. Very deep blackish brown pour with 1-finger tan head. Nose is rich dark choclate, dark choc/patent malt, molasses, nuts, hops. Tastes malty, rich, with dark malty chocolate, slight rauhy notes, and nuts, fig, and brown sugary notes as it warms. Starts slightly sweet and chocolatey, and ends with more raisins, earthy notes, and hops. Solid.

Bottle; poured a dark reddish brown; a little thicker pour than expected. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa and a bit of fruit; perhaps some vanilla. Palate was a bit thin at times. Flavor was dominated by molasses and roasted malt. Moderate hopping. A pretty bland, but not bad tasting beer.
